You can’t remember dying. To be honest, you can’t even remember living... The first thing you remember is light. A warm flickering flame calling upon you, pulling every etereal piece of your soul. In the distance, you saw the towering pyre, first of a blazing row of beacons guiding you towards the final rest. A guardian stood at its base, carrying a torch to illuminate the trail among the shadows...

An eerie feeling took over you as the dark crawled towards the light source with its twisting black tentacles. Shadowy creatures jumped from the nothingness and piled upon the Firelight, ripping they apart and feasting on their flame. As the Curses vanished from thin air, the only things left behind were the guardian’s empty husk, a broken staff and the gloom, as the beacon slowly dimmed out..

The shadows creeped patienly toward your stunned form, embracing you with their cold tendrils and taking what remained from your memories as you blended with them. You understood them. You became part of them. You were no longer a soul, you were merely a shade. And upon your hands rested a sigil covered tome...

The rest of the lights, from afar, no longer offered you warmth, only a purpose: to cover this place with darkness...

Welcome to Shadowcurses! A Solo RPG inspired by Firelights SRD and lore. 

Shadowcurses is a condensed solo/co-op role-playing game about a guided journey across a plagued land. It is a game of exploration, discovery, and challenges. Inspired by Metroidvania and Soulslike video game genres, players take on the role of a doomed lone-protagonist whose role is to extinguish the remaining light and hope from the underworld, fulfilling its corrupt destiny. Using accessible gaming material (2 six sided dice, a deck of cards, and a notebook), players will tackle challenges, evade danger, explore and create a map of the land, fight the light guardians, curse stray souls, and more.
